agree the proposal by Transform Leatherhead / Mole Valley District Council for pedestrianisation of Leatherhead High Street on Sundays and bank holidays when parking is free off street. To support improved public realm, town business, walkability, family enjoyment, cycling and Theatre use at no cost to the car users or disruption to deliveries. This is a compromise on the proposals narrowly rejected (and misunderstood) by the Local Committee 22 January. The fact is the Leatherhead Residents Association are only representing their own views in this matter and basing their stance on incorrect information and a narrow perspective. The voting in the Local Committee was on a similar demographic. The views of younger people, the disabled and families was not adequately represented in the decision making process. The need to apply each time for closure for Sunday and bank holiday events would be avoided, this is a burdensome process for the Council and event organisers. (with response)J Moyer28 April 20201
