This petition is now closed, as its deadline has passed.

We the undersigned petition Surrey County Council to Address properly the poor state of roads in the County. More details

More details from petition creator

The roads in the County are in a bad way. They are used by all kinds of traffic. Everyone, County and District Councillors and Surrey CC etc, agrees that roads are in a bad way.

Responses to calls for action vary according to whether they come from Surrey CC staff, County Councillors (who are more directly the persons to whom Surrey CC staff report) or District Councillors. They range from bureaucratise - from Surrey CC staff - to straightforward admissions that there is simply no money, that Surrey CC does not have funds to address the roads properly.

Good roads are a basic of Council provision for our council taxes but are simply being put off by Surrey CC seemingly in the hope that something will turn up to solve their problem. There is at County Councillor level no prospect of making any change, which may best be described as a general feeling of powerlessness on their part.

We call on Surrey CC to set aside funds to address this problem properly, and not to allow our roads to deteriorate further or be half-heartedly patched with no prospect for most of them of being properly rebuilt or repaired or resurfaced in the near future
