More details from petition creator

There is a need to introduce road safety measures to improve pedestrian safety approaching the roundabout on Hersham Rd and West Grove as vehicles are travelling through this roundabout well above the speed limit. There are a number of affected pedestrian users including school children, the elderly and commuters accessing the rail station. It is worth noting that a cyclist was killed near this roundabout a few years ago and in late 2014 a woman was taken to St George's Hospital with life threatening injuries after being a victim of a hit and run. This petition proposes that speed humps are introduced on either side of this roundabout on Hersham Rd - between Cleveland Close and the rail bridge; and between Felcott Rd and West Grove. This will force vehicles to slow sufficiently enough to allow pedestrian users to be able to judge the speed of on-coming vehicles. Pedestrians are often left stranded using the crossing points situated on each side of this roundabout due to cars speeding through the junction. It is a matter of time before another serious accident results from speeding vehicles at this junction.
